PRE-SYMPOSIUM EVENT: Connecting Edmonton Seniors – November 12, 2019

Presented by the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council, Connecting Edmonton Seniors aims to increase awareness of system barriers that affect seniors in our community. Shared stories will highlight the pressing issues that require our collective attention and effort to address. Connecting Edmonton Seniors is a network of stakeholders focusing on social isolation as an extension of the work that began as part of the Pan-Edmonton Group Addressing the Social Isolation of Seniors (PEGASIS).

PRE-SYMPOSIUM EVENT: Care Hacks: Future Technology for Seniors Reverse Trade Fair - November 13, 2019

At Care Hacks: Future Technology for Seniors Reverse Trade Fair, participants will consider how the use of technology can facilitate aging in place related to caregiver supports. Through presentations and discussions, this opportunity will allow the health tech sector to test their technological innovations against civil society’s needs related to seniors’ health. This event is brought to you in partnership with Economic Development, Trade and Tourism and will bring together private and public sector organizations to foster partnerships and develop innovative solutions for challenges experienced by caregivers.

Vision 2030 for Seniors Services Symposium – November 13 & 14, 2019

The goal of this symposium is to create a common understanding of the needs of seniors in 2030 and to develop and share recommendations to address the future anticipated needs of older adults in Alberta. When shaping the agenda for the Vision 2030 for Seniors Services Symposium, the following themes were considered:

  • emphasizing wellness and independence;
  • enhancing community capacity and integrating health and social care;
  • shifting priorities of services in continuing care;
  • transforming the health system to meet future needs; and,
  • addressing the cultural diversity of the future population.
